That's a lot of stuff on those screens! I bet you could fill up an even bigger monitor if it were available. How big is the one you have here in addition to the MacBook? Does the extra monitor slow down the performance on your MacBook at all?
Extra monitor does not slow the system at all. The extra monitor is 19 inch diag, but the pixels are half inch across. Once I had four monitors, I swear I could use twenty. Usually the space is not at such a premium as on this screen shot, that is why I took that picture.
One of the really great things about Osx is the multiple desk tops. I like to setup separate sets of desktops for each project going on at the same time. Ctrl-arrow left or right goes from one set to the next. Each is its own world, untouched by the others, and everything stays where it's left.
That is so important, because sliding windows around and looking for the right one is so aggravating. I don't have an extra screen (yet!) but when I was programming the lighting console they had a work space feature where you could set up 12 different arrangements of the various palettes and recall each layout by pressing its button. I used every single one of those work spaces, because I like having things at exactly the right size and exactly where I need them. Searching for something totally wrecks my concentration. Right now, all I have is my iPad. It comes in handy though to follow the forums as I'm working through tutorials or one of your walkthroughs.
Turns out, the different screen sets are not as isolated as I thought. For instance, not possible to have Aptana in more than one window. So if it is needed by more than one.... no go
